Drunk Saffron surprises as it journeys its eponymous note on something of a crawl, picking up notes and nuances along the way. Stigmas of saffron infuse in a snifter of Cognac, floating in this precious medley that is equal parts woody as it is spicy, floral as it is honey-sweet and boozy. Nuances of plum, raisins, coffee, and oak move around this central saffron feature, as its delicious hue – a red merging into brown – softens at the creamy gourmand touch of vanilla and musk. The body of this fragrance is the result of a leather note that is fixed in place, rounded out with patchouli so to become the surface in which the many expressions of saffron can reveal themselves. Drunk Saffron is a singular perfume, ultimately a composition with amber as its template, rich upfront and long on the drydown.
