Macaque (Fuji Apple) demonstrates the impact of a single note – how a single change is enough to reorchestrate the effect of an entire perfume. The apple in this fragrance makes the perfume blush – translucent incense notes gain weight and fullness, and the woods in the base of Macaque (Fuji Apple) are emphasised, iterated of their solidity. This links up with juniper berry, a crisp aromatic note with a hard exterior and a softly textured inside, much like the dominant crisp, tangy, and perfectly rounded apple note. Cooling and sweet, Macaque (Fuji Apple) descends into a resinous and ambery base flushed in incense: it is surprisingly robust with a cheeky side – apples smash into the grand trunks of these pine-inflected hinoki trees, a melange of fruit skins and pulp, wood, smoke, and earth that balances vibrancy with measured astringency.
