Zoologist Beaver invites you to slip away to a cozy family lodge. A tranquil river encloses the den in its rippling embrace as it glides beneath the blossoms of lush linden trees lining the banks. The breezy aroma of the green, floral grove washes over you, just before you duck inside to be welcomed by leathery hints of musky castoreum. As it mingles with the moist, woody note of freshly hewn timber, it strikes you just how sexy and dapper this perfume is, and you sink into it, letting yourself be enfolded in its surprising elegance.

A splendid bounty of animalic leather and musks that is altogether civilised and clean, Beaver is a serious work of perfumery and is a delightful formal fragrance.

Made in Canada

First and foremost an animalic and leathery fragrance, Beaver operates on a contradiction faithful to the creature’s territory: a den made of woody material, and watery notes that reflect the beaver’s propensity for the water. The beaver is a civilised, motivated, and architectural animal, who gathers materials and builds dams to slow streams of water and form ponds. Enchanted by this image and fuelled by a love for animalic themes and ingredients, perfumer Chris Bartlett has formed a perfume that is at once leathery, smoky, and dry, as well as watery and fresh. It appeals to the truest lovers of this style, whilst speaking to new audiences as it marries it with an uncommon freshness.

Castoreum itself is a contradiction, contributing to a dark core of leather and musk, but is itself a clean note that rings its signature smell. Surrounding this is a total image of felled birch and aspen trees resting on undergrowth, dredged in fresh outdoor air, then enlivened with linden blossom, calling to mind jasmine, honey, white ‘laundry’ musk, and lemon-lime nuances. This gives Beaver trail, tenacity, and atmosphere. A hint of iris adds dryness and elegance, and this floral feature reiterates the sophisticated virtues of this fragrance.
