Outstanding Review by: Michael 1/09/2019
The reviews are right. Best I've tried.
Nice smooth shave. Review by: Geoff 13/04/2019
I have been using this for a few years now and will keep using it. Lightly scented and good on my sensitive skin.
Lathers well.
Excellent Review by: Karl 28/02/2019
Ben using this for years. Kindest thing I've done for my skin. I used to react to so many different soaps, but not this.
Mitchell smooth as... Review by: WillH 22/08/2018
this is my favourite shave soap.
This soap lathers easily with either my synthetic or badger brush giving a smooth lubricating film when using cutthroat or conventional razor, has a pleasant mild scent.I travel with a Speick soap stick, would love this Mitchells soap in a stick for 365 days of shaves.
Mtchells shave soap Review by: Bill 22/08/2018
One of my favourite soaps, certainly lathers easily and when using a cutthroat allows a gliding film to assist shaving. Light perfume is not at all overpowering.
Taken me fifty years to find something this good! Review by: Philip 10/07/2018
I tried Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap for the first time because of Men's Biz a few months ago. On my first slab and ordered refill. Staggered at quality of shave. Doesn't dry out my skin. And almost no scent even by comparison with products I've tried which advertise no scent.
Lathering up. Don't find an issue with this. Just work up lather in the bowl. And use a good quality brush a few times over areas you leave to last. Because this product is natural, you don't get all the fluff of more commercial shaving creams. Leaves anything I've used before for dead. Won't tell The Missus or I'll never see my Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap again.
Thanks, Men's Biz.
CLASSIC! Review by: Paul 1/02/2018
I had no problems lathering Mitchell's Wool Fat. Granted, the lather is not as voluminous as other soaps, but it really doesn't need to be with the amount of slickness this soap contains!
Post shave is phenomenal!
Skin is left soft and nourished and irritation free.
Scent is clean and fresh, a real classic shave soap scent.
Really love it!
I would highly recommend Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap!
I tried the rest, settled for the best Review by: Frank 20/06/2017
For the reviews that can not lather the soap buy a real badgers brush. Not the easiest soap to lather but only a few more seconds work to get it to face lather well.

The real secret is the lanolin will make your razor last longer if you rinse in cold water you will end up with a small rust preventing layer of oil on the blade. I used to use a straight razor and that's how to discovered mitchell's now too busy to shave with a straight razor but I discovered that three blade disposable lasts 2-3 times longer than it used to when I lived in a hot humid area (kinda like the average bathroom)
THE shaving soap to have Review by: Damien 8/06/2017
This should be part of every man's shaving arsenal. Lathers well and looks after the face.
Like the product enough to buy a refill Review by: Daniel 23/05/2017
I initially purchased this as my entry into the shaving soap world and was pleasantly surprised. The product lathers well, smells great and lasts forever! After more than a year using the first one I've purchased a refill as I fully intend to keep using it. At this price point it's definitely worth trying.
Great soap Review by: Sean 16/04/2017
I use the soap in the refillable ceramic bowl. Lathers up well, hardly any scent and seems to last forever. Great price too.
Best neutral hard soap Review by: sK0pe 22/11/2016
I really enjoy using MWF as my daily base soap. It lathers to a very luxurious finish on both badger and boar brushes.

The soap lasts quite a while too.
Love it Review by: James 11/10/2016
This is my new favourite soap.

It took a bit of extra time to learn how to get good results from, but it was absolutely worthwhile. I load it up a bit longer compared to other soaps, and I also found that face lathering worked better than in a bowl.

Very slick result. Gives a great shave.
Great, but not for beginner. Review by: Ben 30/09/2016
This soap is not the easiest to lather and if you lack a little bit of patience or live in a hard water area you may be in for a bad time.
Once you do achieve a lather though you are treated to quite a delightful smelling soap that is smooth to go on. The ceramic bowl is a very nice touch, being much more durable to wet bathroom conditions than wooden bowls which can absorb water under certain situations.
Good stuff Review by: Peter 1/03/2016
This is a tricky one to review, for me. The first ten or so times that I used it it took a bit of effort but created the best lather I've ever come across. Thick, protective, slick, and moisturising. Then for some reason I stopped being able to make a suitable lather. I've tried a dozen times and failed every time. So all I can say is good luck. It's the best soap I've tried, when I can get it to work.
Good solid soap Review by: Ian 26/01/2016
I am impressed with this soap so far. It does seem a little harder to lather than my normal (proraso) but the shave result is very good. No irritation and a nice smooth shave. Not much smell associated - just the slight lanolin type smell you can get with sheep products - just reminds me of the shearing shed growing up! Certainly very low scent though so don't let it put you off.
My go-to shave soap Review by: Joel 26/12/2015
Been using this for many years now, on to my third refill. Lathers very easily in Melbourne with extremely soft water, not so much in Brisbane with very hard water. Provides a nice moisturising shave, smells like a natural soapy scent with a hint of lanolin.
slick Review by: hg 13/10/2015
Just commenced using this masterpiece. Wow! I must agree with other authors and suggest this is the best shaving soap I have used. Easy to lather, luxurious and leaves a softness like no other. Also a absolute bargain at 20 bucks. Simply beautiful.
Didn't lather Review by: Cameron 16/05/2015
I simply could not get this soap to lather. I tried soaking the puck, lathering it dry, grating it into a bowl, hot water, cold water, gentle swirling on the puck, aggressive swirling on the puck - nothing worked. I've heard this soap doesn't like hard water but I don't believe Brisbane is known for it's hard water. It may also be down to the fact that I was using my soft-ish synthetic brush when attempting to lather it, but this same brush had no problems making a beautiful lather out of D R Harris' Arlington soap (another hard soap). It just shouldn't be this hard.
Simple Brilliance Review by: Persistenceofloss 31/03/2015
MWF is simply an incredible product. Give it a hot soak befor the shower and it will lather like crazy. It provides an excellent glide during the (straight) shave. I personally didn't find it hard to lather at all. It's smell is more or less neutral, so don't expect anything amazing there. Lastly, people have said this gives your skin a long lasting post shave sense of moisture, don't know what that's all about... My skin tightened after using this. Even still, compared to more expensive brand this will give you one of the best shaves ever.
Natural, old school and totally awesome! Review by: Baz 29/07/2014
Being my first soap, and after reading other reviews, I was very surprised at how easy this was to lather.
Just rinse the puck under some warm water, give it a couple swirls with your brush and away you go!
This soap is very cushioning, very slick, and much more forgiving than any cream I have tried.
It also looks like it will last an absolute age!
Simply the best. Review by: Peter 2/05/2014
Hands down simply the best shaving soap available!

No fragrance (just a very mild & natural smelling soap - not even a hint of perfume - some shaving products tend to go over the top with perfume fragrances - not this one).

You read all over the web about this soap being difficult to lather - well, I have zero issues getting an amazing & luxurious lather. From the first use I've found it easy (& fast) to build up a fantastic rich lather.

To sum it up:
Mitchell's Wool Fat + Sydney water + badger brush == THE BEST LATHER EVER!
unbelievably good Review by: slicey 17/12/2013
Not much to add on this soap that hasn't been said, if there was such a thing as soap perfection, this would have to give it a nudge.
A minor clerical error with my address meant I got my order a day later than I expected (but hey, it was peak Christmas rush) and I had to chase the transport company with a phone call or two.
In the end, it all worked out, yet again menzbiz delivers.
Awesome! Review by: Steve 11/07/2013
I have read that MWF (or "the fat") can be very picky about how much water it needs/wants. I live in a place that has hard water (I think!) so YMMV, but I have not had too much trouble so far working up a suitable lather. The thing I love about this soap is that it's so nice to my skin. As one review I read somewhere said, "once you get past the fact that you're basically applying a dead sheep to your face, it works great".

Whatever is in it feels great on my skin, and so far out of all the soaps and creams I have, MWF leaves my skin feeling very lovely and soft post shave. It also smells quite unique, but very subtle. Some folks may not like it, but I do.

Overall, excellent product. I sprung for the ceramic bowl, which made it an expensive purchase but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

I'm a happy customer of both MWF and Mens Biz. I have made four separate purchases so far and all of them have been delivered within 24 hours, and all with a little extra surprise in the box. Can't say enough about their customer service!

Luscious shave soap reminds me of the wonderful fitjar(Scandinavian) soap. Perth water lathers it a treat too. AAA
Perfect Review by: User 3/05/2013
While I do not find this soap hard to lather it is a bit more thirsty than some other soaps I have tried.
It has a great scent that is very light but comforting.
This soap provides the cushioning and glide that produces a reliably wonderful result.
Good price, great product. Review by: Sam 24/04/2013
I've only tried it on soft water (Melbourne and tank), but it lathers extremely well.
Sure you could get that cheaper soap, but it may not be as good, or last as long. 20 bucks for a years shaving soap? That's probably cheaper than canned goo.
Great standby soap Review by: Karl 14/01/2013
This soap is my standby soap. I use it for testing new blades, or the odd time I bust out the straights, since it is so consistent for me. It does take a bit more time to get lathered up than some soaps, but once you've got it, its well worth the little extra effort. This soap is also a great moisturizer. And it just lasts and lasts, its a bargain at the price.
The legend Review by: Chris 26/04/2012
Tried this soap purely on its fantastic reputation on the wet shaving forums. I was not disapointed with its perfomance. Easy to lather with a great cushion provided. Mild scent but this is plus in my opinion. Leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturised.
Great stuff

Great performer Review by: Gus 16/02/2012
You'll read reviews by some who find this soap difficult to lather.I don't know if Melbourne water has a magic ingredient in it but I had absolutely no trouble in creating a fabulously rich lather with this soap.I must admit though that I do place about a tablespoon of warm water on top of my new pucks and allow the soap time to absorb the water prior to using the soap. This seems to prime soaps nicely and I never have trouble creating a good lather. As a means to properly evaluate the latherability of my soaps I use a Simpson Wee Scot which is the smallest badger in production. If it passes the Wee Scot test then I am confident that any other brush that I use with the product is going to provide the goods.MWF has a mild scent that I can only describe as being very clean. The rich lather provides a very comfortable shaving medium with the lanolin most likely providing the smooth glide. My skin feels very soft and smooth after shaving with MWF.This is one of the regulars in my shave kit and one that I will often reach for.Variety is the spice of life and something that will change your shaving routine from being mundane and an effort to something that you will look forward to with each day.The cost of a puck of MWF makes it an affordable addition to your kit and also one that provides a great quality shaving experience.Definitely recommended.
Great product! Review by: RL, Surrey Hills 28/12/2011
This soap is a long way ahead of all others I've tried. My skin is super sensitive and this soap does the job beautifully; plus, once you've invested in the ceramic bowl, the refills are a bargain at under $20 - and they last a long time. There is definitely a reason why this tried and tested product has been around for so long!
