A very efficient razor Review by: Graham 29/11/2017
Rating:
I purchased this razor recently and decided to give it a run, loaded an Astra blade that had 4 uses and checked the blade reveal was equal on both sides. Lathered up with a good thick lather and started the shave, the feedback from this razor was incredible and gave me such a close 1st pass. My neck and moustache area are very sensitive and after the second pass I found a little irritation around my neck and upper lip area. You can really feel the blade, the lightness of the razor meant that I had to keep my touch as light as possible as this baby can really bite hard. This is one very good looking razor and I just love the pattern, I will keep this one as my travel razor as it is small enough to fit into my toiletries bag. I can very highly recommend this razor and as usual Mens Biz does a wonderful job of quick despatch, keep up the good work.
Lightweight Champion of the World Review by: Hamish 1/03/2017

I keep mine in the locker room at work. Great utility razor. Light weight for those fast shaves when you are running late in the morning. Good construction. I really like the pattern. I'd describe it as an adventure sport version of your typical double edge. The sort you could throw in your dopp kit and never have to worry about. That said it does come with a very cool travel kit.
A lightweight heavy hitter! Review by: Chris 1/08/2014

I found this razor to be an excellent entry into safety razors if you don't mind a bit of tough love while you learn. This retro coloured razor will definitely let you know if your technique is off.

It might feel light in your hands, but don't let that fool you into thinking you need to apply any extra pressure than necessary - This thing has a super aggressive blade angle and trying to push too hard will almost certainly result in you shopping for a new chin.

In fact, on my first shave with this razor I cut myself so much that I was convinced the damn thing had arrived at my house possessed by some kind of malevolent blood-hungry ghost.

However, if you can take it slowly and learn to maneuver such a light razor with some finesse, you'll be rewarded with a wonderfully close shave.

I would recommend this razor to anyone with patience and a reasonably steady hand!
Wow! One of my Favourites! Review by: Anthony 14/10/2013

Ok, so I had this on my "To get" list for quite a while, and while all my razor collection are Chrome finished, I thought I would give the Bakelite a shot after reading some good reviews.

This razor is amazing! Despite its finish (which is Bakelite ie. Plastic) this razor gives me amazing shaves!!

Its virtually weightless being made of Bakelite with the centre screw being the only heavy material used in its construction.

The blade angle is quite aggressive, and is probably the reason why I get smooth shaves from this little razor!

The plastic travel case is also quite convenient, but if you're using it for travel, you could just carry it disassembled.

Dont let the fact that its made of Plastic (Bakelite) turn you off. Although the finish isnt too impressive, the performance of this razor is AWESOME (for me anyway).

Being aggressive and also light weight, just make sure not to apply too much pressure when using it or you will know about it!

Thanks again Mensbiz!
The Art Deco Razor Review by: Mitchell 16/11/2012

As a newcomer to double-edged shaving I am enjoying using this razor as I work my way through the blade sampler pack & perfect my technique on light stubble and sensitive skin.

I was looking to purchase the Merkur Classic (33C) as this site describes it as a 'fine razor for a beginner', however at the time it was out of stock. So why choose the Bakelite? Two reasons - it stands out from the rest, and its style fits in well in my Art Deco-era apartment (not a particularly scientific method to narrow down the number of options, I must admit!). I will try other razors as my technique develops however I can see that I will be keeping this one even if it is not used.
Amazing razor, very light Review by: Frederick 30/08/2012

First of all this razor is light, even though it says 14g you don't realise how light it actually is.

Popped in a fresh feather blade and went to work. Given the weight of the razor you have to resist the urge to push it onto your skin which of course will cause nicks.

It comes in a nice hard case perfect for storage and for travel. Would defiantly recommend this razor.
