About 4-6 shaves from a blade is typical. As soon as the edge starts to dull, replace it. It doesn’t matter which side of the blade faces up, and turning it over after a few shaves won’t make any difference.

AS-D2S with a feathers blade.

I bought the AS-D2S Stainless Steel Safety Razor so what else would i use but a feathers blade.
i learned to use safety razor as a 17 year old, because 40 years ago there were only a few disposable razors on the market and the quality as not great, so this was an easy transition for me, although i did get a few nicks with the first shave. Now i'm even putting a little pressure on.

These blades are good quality. They generally last me 3-4 shaves before they get blunt, but to be honest I don't dry my razor very well after each use.
The pack it comes in has a good simple dispensing and used-blade collecting system.
