This fragrance embodies a man who celebrated extremes and boasts a unique and highly powerful cistus note. Awards: Top 10 Animalic Fragrance from Luca Turin (Perfumes: The Guide 2018).

A Religious Experience

(Review of a sample vial)

I cannot get past the incense in this fragrance.
To me, it reminded me of a dusty old church, maybe with a few bouquets of flowers dotted around.
If you're into that kind of thing, it does have good longevity.

Bangkok calling

This scent reminds me of being in Bangkok. Lovely oriental scent that starts right from the time you put it on until way past bed time.

He won't shut up about it.

Update: I gave the sample to my friend and he can't get enough of it. I actually bought a full bottle for him for Christmas because he has spent the last two months dropping massive hints about how much he wants a bottle.

I hated every single minute, every single thing about it in its entirety from start to finish was disgusting to me. I have a feeling that I don't like labdanum, which is apparently what this scent is all about. It was a reaction I felt deep within me, an absolute repulsion that started somewhere in my bones. He thinks it's wonderful and won't shut up about it. I kind of get it - this house exists at the outermost fringes of the most extreme fragrance territories. You can't expect to please everyone when notes in your fragrances include sweat, gun powder and popcorn.

Merry Christmas, Nico.

sweet, damp and spicy.

[Review of Attaquer le Soleil Marquis de Sade Sample Vial]

This is a flat out no from me. I understand that Etat Libre d'Orange is niche, which is why it's so important to test their fragrances over repeated wears before choosing. This is a sweet, damp pine scent with well balance spicy touches but a tad too much musk for me. I'm not certain it's in there but I detect quite a lot of petrichor. I'm still giving it four stars because I'm sure it will appeal to someone.
