Tauer Orange Star uses the natural essential oils of clementine and red mandarine to add to the unique vitality of the head notes. The citrus notes give room to lemongrass essential oil, which bridges to the heart of the fragrance. There, a clean orange flower chord is central, with a hint of translucent violet flowers that support the vibrant and elegant head notes. The base of the fragrance mirrors the vibrancy and clean lightness of the heart. The body of the fragrance is centred on elegant ambergris, with a hint of soft woods. It plays with a fine vanilla line, a hint of patchouli and is enriched with a drop of a natural resin from cistus, known as Ambreine. Made in Switzerland.Awards: Winner of the 2011 FIFI Award for Best New Independent Niche Fragrance.

The usual malady of citrus' poor longevity is remedied in Orange Star, reviving the citrus category with sunny and hyper-charged citrus notes. Placed amongst oozing tonka bean and ambergris, or in other words, a salted caramel base. Adding longevity and depth without losing the freshness.

IT'S JUST SO DARN WEIRD

Orange Star: I appreciate that Tauer dared to dream this thing up and he should be commended for his efforts. It smells like artisan soap made with roasted spiced oranges only you left them in the oven too long and they got a little too toasty. To put it another way, this is not a citrus cologne, it's a citrus incense. It contains a scent profile that could not possibly stray further from mainstream and toes the line somewhere between god-awful and divine. Is that what makes Andy Tauer a genius? I am rating it with a single orange star because it seems appropriate.

LESS IS MORE.

Every so often a fragrance comes along that when you spray it in the regular manner, well, it's just too much. Way too much, unpleasantly so. When I first tried Orange Star 09, I sprayed each forearm with 2 full sprays and repulsed by what appeared to be some type of dry, bitter, cleaning liquid. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed with my blind buy.
The next day, I remembered that some fragrances need to be 'misted on', which is to say, one spray from about half a meter away, letting gravity gently carry it down to my forearm.
I tried that, and WOW, now it was a totally different fragrance. A delicious and unique orange-centric masterpiece!
In this instance, I guess the old adage of 'less is more', really is true...

Citrus, rich, vibrant

A vibrant, rich citrusy scent that is unlike any other clean citrus scents I have experienced in the past due to its depth, texture and longevity. Andy Tauer is a master of transforming the basics into a master pieces and this one is a perfect example. You cannot let summer go by without wearing this fragrance on every hot summer day.

A lovely refreshing and substantial fragrance. A sparkling orange with a hint of richness. Good for brisk and warm days. Thank you Liam for your recommendation!
