Ok, so the smell is a force to be reckoned with, but this is one hell of a soap. You just have to show it a brush and it starts foaming like a rabid dog. Mountains of luxurious lather give you a close and comfortable shave every time. Some local chemists stock Tabac products so go in and have a sniff but you really do owe it to yourself to try this unique product.

Well I finally tried the classic Tabac and I was not disappointed. A rich, thick lather and close shave - everything people say it is. Unfortunately this also includes the smell - it is not particularly bad, but after a while the florally scent gets a bit sickly and I find myself reaching for something else sometimes. Although it should only get 4 stars for that reason, it is good value (including the bowl) and otherwise amazing, so 5 stars it is.

Everyone needs a bowl of Tabac in their kit. Great all year round but sensational in winter when you keep the lather warm (try a cheap home made shave bowl for this - http://www.mensbiz.com.au/share/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=378). That Italian barber shop smell is the icing on the cake.

Another wetshaving "holy grail" soap Tabac produces a rich cushioning lather that only a tallow based soap can provide. The smell is ( to me ) an "old fashioned" spicy/floral smell. Highly recommended.

The ceramic bowl is really nice and thick and the perfect way to store the soap. Heck, even the way it's boxed is nice. Don't forget you can just buy the the refill once you've used up the original puck.

As many have commented the smell of Tabac products are certainly unique in that they could be described as from a different time. Reminiscences of old barber shops (back when they sold pipe tobacco amongst other things) greet the nose on lathering up.

A great cushioning lather, Tabac needs a little more after shave work than some other soaps and creams (a little more witchhazel and aftershave balm/lotion) to even up the skin tone.

Otherwise though a strong contender for the daily go-to soap.

What can you say about TABAC! that hasn't already been said? A terrific soap. It produces a dense, creamy lather that helps me shave closer than other soaps or creams, with comfort. The scent polarizes people, but it really is just a very sharp floral soap smell, and after a few uses, the scent really mellows out. Spring only $5 extra for the nice hefty jar the soap sits a bit low in, so you can work it without making a mess everywhere.
