"I've tried almost every blade available and after each and every one I find myself continuously crawling back to feather blades. For me they are without doubt the best. They are very sharp and if used correctly effectively allow a close shave with no drag or razor burn, however these blades are not for everyone, they demand a light touch and may take some getting used to."

"In much the same way as Pilot Mechanical Pencils (such as the beautiful S20 drafting pencil), Feathers are another high-quality Japan-made instrument. Because these blades are a precision tool, short and slow strokes are the only way to go for a nick-free shave. Preshave preparation is absolutely critical too - personally, I find that I need to 'soak' my face for at least 90 seconds using my favourite shaving cream with a hot face-washer. On a quiet morning, I love listening to the cutting sound that these blades offer - very satisfying!"

"These are the sharpest DE blades you'll find. As such they're probably not suited to beginners but that being said, there's a lot of "fear" surround this blade. Don't fear it just treat it with the respect it deserves.

"As others have said, these blades are very sharp. They can provide a great shave, the new user just has to get past their reputation.
With all blades, I think it is important to find the right shaving edge for the individuals face. Some prefer very sharp, while others prefer a smoother shave of a mild razor."

"Perhaps sharper is not always better (well for me anyway). I have not had much success with these blades and the results, while smooth, are less than pretty. Definitely not for a newbie such as me, but I'm willing to give them another shot later on down the track."

"Yep these would have to be my favourite blades. To be honest, I don't even know why - I just know they're better than anything else I've shaved with. Highly recommended."

"Feather's are super sharp and do provide a super close shave. However, for those with irritation, this can often be too close and provide problems. On the other hand, they do teach you a lot about your technique and whether you are using the right pressure and angle. I will graduate to these eventually"

"I tried these blades as part of the sample pack when I first started using a DE razor. Too sharp for me, lots of cuts - I settled on the Dorcos as the best for me. However, the trade-off with a less aggressive blade is that they do drag more. Now that I feel more confident in handling a DE razor (5 months in), I thought I'd give the Feathers another try. I have the advantage of using the (very) adjustable Merkur Vision so I cranked it back a touch from my Dorco setting, and voila! Less drag, and no cuts or irritation. Very happy with this combination now that I know more about what I'm doing!"

"Everyone raves about these blades. Yes they are sharp as anything, but that doesn't seem to mean everything to my face. I have used feather in 3 razors (including Merkur vision) and each time I am left with cuts, redness and stinging everywhere. With the vision a lot less but still annoying when other blades don't have this effect.
They work amazingly for some people, but not everyone."

"These blades are very, very sharp so not for a beginner and proper preshave in essential. I did not need to apply any pressure and I could feel how sharp the razor was against my skin. I could easily cut through my coarse beard in 1 pass and got a closer shave than I would get in 2 passes with another blade. No nicks, cuts or irritation to speak of."
