I bought one of these back in January this year. I was a little sceptical about it's efficacy but, $29.95 (+ $6.00 postage) isn't a great deal to lose if it didn't work. I'd previously purchased a couple of "cheapies" off eBay which disappointed me, didnt do what they said they would (re-sharpen a used cartridge blade) and, to be quite frank, a downright waste of money !
This RazorPit however, lived up to it's claim/s. Not only does it re-sharpen cartridge blades, it re-sharpens DE blades too !
My neighbour uses Bic double blade cartridges to shave her legs/armpits and she too was pleasantly surprised at how well the device re-sharpened her used blades.
I was only a couple of days into using the RazorPit when I damaged it's "stropping" surface by stropping my Head Blade in the wrong direction which chopped up the surface. Fortunately I didn't damage the whole surface so that which remains undamaged is of sufficient size to strop blades.
To this point in time I've used it on a Bic disposable, Gillette Mach 3/5, Schick Quattro Titanium Freestyle and Schick FX in the cartridge range and on a Feather, Wilkinson Sword, Merkur and a Derby Extra.
The RazorPit has done a marvellous job on all blades.
The device is well made and providing that care is exercised, should last for ages. Complete operating instructions are included in the box although one doesn't have to be an Einstein to grasp how it works.
It's made of a silicone-like substance, has been patented by the inventor so there's no risk of a Chinese knock-off underpricing it !!
Well worth the money spent, easily recouped by the savings made on the purchase of new blades.

RazorPit just arrived. Used it on a very old Mach 3 Turbo I'd been saving to try the RazorPit out. It worked a treat. Shaved with the "renovated" blade and it gave me a better shave than it did when the blade was new. Dunno if it will work as well on a DE blade but I'll give it a go tomorrow and report back.
I was a bit dubious about it's efficacy but it's proven to be just as advertised. If anyone has any reservations about this product, put them aside and get one.

The title could be the entire review. This product really does what it says. It is as simple as that! It's not a gimmick. You can actually see how clean the edge of the blade stays over the life of the blade, while the rest of the blade gets covered in shaving residue.

Personally however I find the claim of 150 shaves is overstating it. I usually get about 3 good shaves and 2-3 average shaves (a total of about 6) from one blade. But with this I got about 25 shaves (and could have got more if I wished), and not only that they were all GREAT. The blade kept shaving at it's best until almost the end. I've had mixed results with DE blades, all in all still an improvement, but it really shines with the cartridges in my headblade.

This will pay for itself in no time. Highly recommended.

I bought mine here 3 months ago and I can concur that this does in fact work extremely well. So well in fact that I have just purchased half a dozen more as Christmas gifts.

I was a little unsure, although the product definitely lives up to the hype.
I have already used disposable razor a number of times and works like brand new every time.
I would highly recommend this product, will save a packet on disposable blades.

I was a little skeptical, but read all the glowing reviews here, so decided to grab one.

All I can say is that if you shave with cartridges, you really do owe it to yourself to try this out.

I had just started a new blade this week, so it had only a few shaves on it. I sharpened the blade on the RazorPit (more so to clean it, not expecting it to be any sharper as it was new) and was shocked to find the blade performed better than when new.

I will be telling everyone I know about this product.

Gave one to my dad for Father's day. I was skeptical but thought that if it did what it promised then it would be a great gift.

My dad used it on his mach3 blade and couldn't believe that the blade stayed like new for 3months. The only reason he had to replace the blade was because the gel strip above the blades had become too worn out.

I use a DE razor so cannot comment, but from his experience with the mach3 this definitely works well.

The Razorpit is just the most amazing and useful and money saving and ecofriendly invention ever! Why?...

My Father has been using Gillette Fusion blades and the average use per blade is 12-15 shaves. Keep in mind that this is pushing it as the blades are so expensive! So, really it's about 9 good shaves and then average after that.

With the Razorpit, he gets over 30 good shaves and it takes quite a while for the shave quality to slip down to average.

I personally started using Mach3 Turbo blades (am a DE shaver but due to some circumstances, have to use Mach3) with a shaving oil each morning and it's really wonderful. Feels like a brand new blade each day and the money saving is amazing. This beauty has paid for itself in just 3 months...that's right, after 3 months, it's putting money back into our pockets!!!....

...think about this...you can get anywhere from 1-3 schooners of beer extra each month with the money saved with the Razorpit!!!

In addition, this invention has the ability to reduce over 4 BILLION razor cartridges worldwide that end up in landfill EACH YEAR!

There is no down-side to this product at all! The only down-side is if you don't get, you will keep wasting money on blades and hurt the environment.

I dont't know why but this does work. I don't know if you get quite as many additional uses from your blades as stated but you definately get more usable life out of them.

Given the price of blades for normal razors these days that is a definate bonus for the expense here and it will pay for itself easily.

As indicated in the other reviews this is a great product that performs as promised. I have just bought a 2nd one as I like to use two different razors and find it a great storage spot to keep the razor available together with the RazorPit ready for use.

I found that it works best for me just using water on the RazorPit and not shaving cream as suggested. This avoids clogging the razor and extra rinsing (I'm using a 3 blade Gillette Mach 3) and as long as the surface is wet it allows the blade to slide smoothly and sharpens well.

Good idea and seems to cleans blades well which does in fact extend blade life. I think it is a stretch to claim to sharpen blades, however overall a worthwhile product.

Everyone else has made the important comments - the RazorPit genuinely works.

I've been using the same Mach 3 blade cartridge for almost a month now, cleaning it every time as instructed, and it is as sharp now as it was the first day. No drag or nicks, the blade seems good for many shaves yet.

I always get a better shave from the Mach 3 razor than a safety razor, but I had stopped using it because the cartridges were so expensive in comparison to double-sided safety blades. No more - now I can use the razor I like for about the same cost as ordinary blades.
