Smooth, forgiving blade; great for beginners

After trying these in the sample pack, I decided to go with these for my first bulk purchase of blades. The blades are smooth and forgiving, so great for beginners. Though they lack the sharpness of other blades they are still adept at cutting through coarse beard. I only felt comfortable getting a couple of shaves out of each blade, but YMMV. I'm trying the Astras next as I want something sharper, but have no hesitation in recommending the Personnas as a great starting point for wet shavers.

Moved on from Astra blades to the Personna blades. Very simular, but these are also a quality product and gives a great shave. recommend.

I found these blades to be the best, they outlast and outshave everything else that I have used. I highly recommend these. Better than the feathers in my opinion.

Tried the Men's Biz sample pack supplied with my Merkur HD and these came out on top.
Tested all the blades a couple of times but kept coming back to these. Sharp enough to cut my beard easily but not too sharp to give me cuts and nicks. Lasts for 6 shaves with a medium to heavy beard. Very Good.

The Personna Reds are a fantastic blade offering a very keen edge but forgiving smoothness that you don't necessarily find in other blades.

I've used the Reds and Blues extensively over the last year and keep returning to the Reds for my regular rotation.

If you are looking something that offers extreme sharpness but a smoother cut you can't go much further than these blades. The Feather blades (also in my regular rotation) offer a sharper cut but can bit you if you are not too careful. The Personna Red seems to have a much better tolerance to different shaving techniques.

Highly recommended for any DE razor type (I use a mix of modern Merkur and Muhle razors and vintage Gillettes in adjustable and fixed blade settings).

    • Would I be correct in guessing that this blade is very popular in terms of its sharpness, smoothness and longevity?
    • I can't speak for everyone, but I personally find it a good balance between sharpness and smoothness.
