The Merkur Long Handle Classic Open Comb Safety Razor is great for tough, coarse or heavy beards. The open tooth head offers more exposure to the blade and is therefore slightly more aggressive than a regular closed comb/safety-bar razor. While this model is best suited to someone with a little experience wielding a safety razor, there is no reason why it can't be used by a beginner. The handle is otherwise identical to the Merkur Long Handle Classic and it comes in a stylish chrome finish.

Very Mild Razor

It is a nice razor, fit and finish wise, could probably be a little bit heavy though. My issue with it, is it's VERY mild! I own and use 7 other DE razors and the 25C is the mildest razor in my lineup. It also seems to have a very narrow 'sweet spot', so if you're out on your angle either way, it just doesn't shave.

Perfect Shave

I bought this for my Dad as he didn't like the short handle on the Merkur HD. I have to confess to preferring this one as well. The long handle allows a lighter weight on the skin and the open comb puts more blade out there. Put a new Feather razor in it and you will get the smoothest shave ever. Just be careful and keep steady.
