Description

The Merkur Classic Open Comb Razor is great for tough, coarse or heavy beards. The open tooth head offers more exposure to the blade and is therefore slightly more aggressive than a regular closed comb/safety-bar razor. While this model is best suited to someone with a little experience wielding a double edge razor, there is no reason why it can't be used by a beginner. The handle is otherwise identical to the Merkur Classic and it comes in a stylish chrome finish. Made in Solingen, Germany and covered by a 2 Year Australian Warranty.

LIMITED OFFER: This razor includes a FREE Mini Blade Sampler Pack to get you started. Replacement blades sold separately.

Good, but not great Review by: Josh 2/01/2018
Rating:
I recently purchased this razor because I had been getting lazy lately and letting the stubble grow out a little long, a little too often. That led to me having to rinse out my main razor (34C) every 10mm stroke or so. That's not as much of a problem with this razor having an open comb and it does a mighty fine job of getting the mass of hair out of the way.

I don't know what it is about this razor though, maybe the weight or the size, but it's just not as enjoyable to shave with, even with short stubble and I can't get quite as good of a result.

It's a nice unit, and it does it's job adequately, but it'll always come in second place to the 34C.
Very happy with this razor Review by: Gus 10/02/2016

For an open comb razor this has got to be one of the most user friendly.
It is an open comb, but it's design makes it one of the less aggressive in this style.
It provides a great user experience and a closer shave than razors with a safety bar.
I really enjoy it's milder temperament. It also seems to function well with a range of different blades.
I have other open razors in my collection, but this is the one that is the most forgiving and yet still provides that extra close shave. If this were the only razor I owned,I'd be happy.
Great DE Review by: Gavin 28/03/2014

One of the best purchases I've made in recent times. I should have discarded the cartridge setup a long time ago as my lazy shave alternative, as opposed to the straight razor. Very happy with this DE
Mild open comb, nice introduction to OC razors. Review by: Frank 30/07/2013

Despite being an open comb, the Merkur 15C feels very mild (at least on my skin).
I tried it with gentle (Lord, Big Ben) and sharp (Gillette SE and Polsilver) blades without getting any nick.
I'd recommend it to people who tend to have a heavy hand when shaving or are starting with open comb razors.
Very well finished (classic Merkur) and designed.
Good customer service by Mensbiz, as always.
Great beginners razor Review by: Rocky 2/03/2012

So, they say this razor is aggressive, well, like all de's if you use too much pressure you are in trouble. The thing about this razor is it is excellent for learning the right cutting angle. If your angle is off, it just won't give you the shave you want. Learn the right angle with this one and it will give you a good consistent shave. I use this as my travel razor and sometimes rotate it with my slant bar. Find a razor that suits your skin and you have a good consistent shave every time.
Fairly Average Review by: Jake 23/07/2011

I recently purchased this razor as a gift for my father and I have to say, I don't like the feel of it as much as my Merkur Barber Pole. I haven't actually shaved with this razor but It feels too small and light, especially if you have large hands. However, due to the smaller size and weight, this would make a perfect razor for a beginner or as a travel razor to keep in your overnight bag. Service from MensBiz was great as usual.
