The handle is 9.5cm (3.75 inches) long, weighs roughly 110g (4 oz.) and is styled on the American barber pole. Think of it as a Merkur HD with a longer handle. Top notch razor

My "special" arrived yesterday and I had my first shave with it today. My beard's not the toughest but the Merkur blade which came with it shaved like a week-old blade. I'll use Feathers from now on.
Can't grumble about the workmanship, it's a beauty to behold. Just the right amount of weight too. Slippery when wet so drive with care !

This razor needs dry hands when held on the Knurling as chrome is slipperly. It has a heavy handle, light head.
It shaves very well no irration. Just take it slowly at first. Merkur Slant Bar is also as good.

Hefty razor so you KNOW you're shaving

This has real weight to it and the longer handle gives a better grip which you will need. Remember no pressure - let the weight do the cutting (more true with the heavier razors like this one) but after a while you'll be wielding it deftly and appreciating its bulk over smaller, lighter razors.

This is my first ever DE type razor and I have to say after years of using cartridges I will never go back! Using a DE razor gives a closer, easier and less irritating shave than any cartridge I've ever used and this being my first safety razor I have to say I'm 100% happy with my experience. Thanks also to the guys at MensBiz for super fast shipping and tracking info. Great work guys...keep it up!

For years I have been searching for the perfect shave. I have experienced brutal shave rash and in grown hairs. i have spent hundreds on electric shavers that refused to cut my stubborn facial hair because of its habit of growing several different directions in a small area. Finally after trying almost everything and nearly giving up i stumbled on a technique almost lost. And high time! Amazing razor and when used with the high quality shaving creams and balms found on this very site you too will know pleasure from this mundane, day to day task. Thanks mens biz for the blade sample pack. Nice touch.

I have a 1961 Gillette Fatboy and a Merkur Futur. Both are wonderful razors but it took just one shave with the 38C to convert me. A fresh astra blade and a nice lather of tabac gave one of the best shaves I have ever had. As you can see from my stable I like heavier razors but I really enjoyed the Razor having a slim head. This is a top shelf razor with excellent finish.
