I've been using the sample tube version. Being a shave soap and badger brush user, I was initially skeptical about how good this product would be, but I've been pleasantly surprised by this product. I followed the usage instructions to the letter and I was able to get a really close shave that left my face feeling very moisturized, even before applying any aftershave or moisturiser! However, while it gives a close shave, I've found that I have to shave much sooner than if I'd shaved with Proraso. The scent is ordinary - some chemical I can't identify. It isn't upleasant though. Just not a 'fragrance'. It applies thicker than Jack Black beard lube and I feel it performs better. This has been my go-to when I'm late for work and need a quick shave.

This stuff is great! Suddenly I can shave every day instead of every second at most, and my skin doesn't feel scraped and dry afterwards - my after-shave balm is going to last forever, now that I'm shaving with this stuff.

I use a straight-razor, so I actually like the lack of foam that comes with a brushless cream/gel like this. It makes it much easier to see exactly what needs removing next, and what I just missed.

The only downside is that it doesn't _stay_ wet as long as I'd like, but I'm putting that down partly to the fact that I have very thick beard growth, and it simply takes a long time to shave it all.

I have been trying different shaving creams/ foams and gels and after using many other Menscience products, decided to give this a go. I was very pleased from the first use. I only use a Gillette shaver, but this shave formula makes shaving easier and leaves my skin feeling really well moisturised. I can even go over some areas more than once without having to re-apply. I have tough facial hair and sensitive skin, but i no longer have any shaving rash or redness after shaving. This product is a real winner!

I bought a tube of this and liked it so much I thought I'd do a follow up review. My original verdict stands - the shave is not quite as close as a cream & brush but as a daily go-to and/or a travel cream, it's great! I'm only shaving every 2nd day at present which is why I probably notice the slightly worse result than my normal routine, but if you used it daily this probably isn't a concern. Going by the ingredients and blurb it also seems like a more natural concoction so its effectiveness is a pleasant surprise. But as a travel companion it's a perfect option. I recently spent a few days at a mate's place down the coast so I gave it a proper test and it passed with flying colours. If you only stay in luxury accommodation then a traditional cream and brush is an option but most of my travel seems to be characterised by time pressures and cramped bathrooms where shaving is a chore rather than a pleasure. My mate installed me in his new downstairs guest room but the bathroom was tiny - the basin had virtually no surround bench space for cream, brush, bowl etc. He was also yelling at me to hurry up so we could get to the RSL for a cheap steak ... anyway, the ease, speed and effectiveness of this product are great and will now be my go-to travel option. That's just saved me a motza by not having to buy a Simpson's The Major travel brush. A damn good product. BTW, the grub at the Rissole was pretty good too ...

Having also tried this via a sample I was very pleasantly surprised by how good it was with my Merkur Futur and Personna blades. Much as I enjoy the ritual of shave cream and a badger brush there are times when you may want or need something that is quicker and simpler - this could be that product. Like Ian, I followed the instructions to the letter (apart from using in the shower) and the resulting shave was very good indeed. I don't mind the lack of scent, that's what aftershave is for. The only negatives are that the shave is perhaps not quite as close as the cream/brush routine and that the gel clings a little to the blade and shave head, thus requiring a little more cleaning and rinsing. This may be the perfect travel shave companion when you want to keep it quick and simple, or as a backup option when you are running late. I was going to spend on a fancy travel shaving brush and travel shave cream tube but this may be the solution I go with instead.
