Etat Libre d'Orange Vierges et Toreros is a true rendition of the brand's bold spirit. Full of contrasts, it is a battle between human and the beast, the man and the woman. Sunshine floods the arena, and the clamour of the spectators rises from the tiers like an offering. But no bulls will die today - this is a confrontation of masculine animal notes with the power of a flower. Wood and musk bite the dust in the face of the tuberose, while leather battles patchouli and bergamot defies the vetiver. And all are victorious.

Fragrance Family:
Dry Woods

Main Notes:
Leather, Tuberose, Nutmeg, Bergamot

Concentration:
Eau de Parfum

Occasion:
Ideal in the wintertime, this is a versatile and fresh leather scent.

Made in France

In an unexpected twist, Vierges et Toreros clashes the heady floral note of fleshy tuberose against the daring note of leather, adding a softness yet retaining the power not often seen in the leather style. The result is a new style of masculinity, something between forceful and graceful, like the matador the scent is built on.

All rounder

This is my go to all rounder spray. Light, masculine but floral notes. Light enough in Summer yet warm enough for winter. Very good value for money and lasts a long time

My New Favourite

I received a sample of this with one of my previous orders and fell in love with it, had to buy a bottle. Absolutely perfect balance of sweet with woody and musky, it's also a very potent scent that will last all day, unlike so many that lose their pop after a couple of hours. I find myself using it before bed simply because I love the scent.

another etat winner

I'm a big fan of Etat's range generally and after reading a few reviews of Verges, I went for a blind purchase. Thankfully it was worth the relative risk - yet another excellent entry in the ELD range, a combination of artificial and fresh scents, with enough classical French hints to add balance. Might I add that both the price and the ordering process from Men's Biz was incredibly straightforward. I look forward to working my way through the rest of the ELO range and would recommend to anyone looking for something distinctive and idiosyncratic to give it a go.

Plastic fantastic

I don't quite know why, but Vierges et Toreros always reminds me of cold plastic - a note that I absolutely love, by the way. I think that's the leather coming through, which isn't a dirty animal leather, but more of a brand new luxury coat, stiff from the shelf. Plasticky. The tuberose is cold also, a waxy perfect bloom untouched by the rot of passing time. To me, Vierges et Toreros is a robot bull fighting a cybernetic toreador in some future dystopian stadium carved from varnished-wood and marble. If that sounds off-putting, it shouldn't - I love this fragrance. It's a favourite of mine for summer days when I need to feel cool and clean and untouched by the ordinary, stick, mortal world.
